“Lord, thank you for the Bible. Help us to read it and do good so we can bear fruit.”
~Kyle Terwilliger, Dir. of Children’s Ministry at First Pres., Arlington
Sitting in church today, this was Kyle’s “echo prayer” for the kids. It’s so simple…and it is so hard.
For the first time, there are less than 2,000 languages in the world without scripture. The last count is 1,967 people groups without access to any of God’s word. Maybe not a whole Bible, but that means that about 4,915 language groups of the world can already echo this prayer in their language!
Bible translation is moving forwards through so many organizations. God’s people are uniting across the world to give new people the chance to know their creator. The church in Africa and Asia is growing…as the church in North America and Europe shrinks.
This as much a reminder to myself as others. Take time frequently to read God’s love letter to us. Change it up, try a different version. Ask the Spirit to show you something new.
