Many of you have heard the sad news…
My housemate died in the hospital yesterday afternoon. Without going into too much detail, he was being treated for respiratory problems, and stopped taking the steroids when he couldn’t keep food down. We think this kicked his systems into a spiral and took him to the hospital. We left the house at noon, and he passed away by 2:10 in the hospital.
We shared many kind words at the service about his servant heart, the challenges he overcame, and the conviction with which he served his Lord. He was no public speaker or linguist, but somehow, through the Spirit, he had a way of communicating with his heart through language barriers. Being one of the last people to see him alive, I can say he was optimistic till the end of his time here. We will all miss him. Now his faith has become sight. Love you, Shawn!
Hey Matt,
Just heard the sad news from Peg. I’m still having a hard time processing it. On the other hand what better place to go home from than from the Master’s work?
Luke 12:35 “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning,
Luke 12:36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.
I believe Shawn did just that.
He’ll be missed very much.
Matthew, Thanks so much for being Shawn’s friend and being there for him at the end of his life here on earth. We rejoice in the knowledge that he is now with his savior!

Thanks for taking care of my older brother.
Matthew,
You could not have described my cousin Shawn any better than you did. I am awake at 2:30am here in Stow, Ohio USA not being able to sleep because I am thinking about him. I grew up spending my summers with him on Cape Cod. He was a more determined person than I could ever hope to be. He gave his entire life to God, and accomplished more than anyone could have imagined despite the obstacles. Though I was the oldest of our generation in our mutual family, I always looked up to him and his devotion to Christ. I thank God that his short time here on earth was spent serving God and others.
Thank you for the kind words. God bless you.
Shawn, you fought the good fight.
